Installation Instructions

These are not peel-and-stick products. Flexible Soft Stone Tiles and Brick Facings must be installed using separately purchased adhesive suitable for the material, substrate and installation location.

What you'll need

  • Flexible Soft Stone Tiles or Brick Facings
  • Suitable adhesive: weather-resistant exterior adhesive for outdoor installations, or a compatible general-purpose on-contact adhesive for dry indoor areas
  • Measuring tape, pencil and level
  • Sharp Stanley knife and safe cutting surface
  • Sponge and water for cleaning
  • Grout and rubber float, if you want a grouted finish
Choose the right adhesive: For outdoor projects, select a high-strength, weather-resistant construction adhesive formulated for exterior conditions and suitable for flexible materials. For dry indoor applications, use a compatible general-purpose on-contact adhesive. Always check the adhesive manufacturer's compatibility, application and curing instructions.

Step-by-step installation

Prepare the surface

Ensure the wall is clean, dry, smooth and free from dust, loose paint, grease and debris. Sand down rough patches where needed to create a sound, even surface.

Measure and plan your layout

Mark the centre of the installation area and work outwards. Dry-lay a few tiles or brick facings before applying adhesive to check the pattern, spacing and alignment.

Apply adhesive

Apply your chosen adhesive evenly to a small, manageable section of the prepared surface. Only cover the area you intend to install immediately, and follow the adhesive manufacturer's application instructions.

Install the tiles or brick facings

Position each piece and press it firmly into the adhesive, checking its alignment. To cut Flexible Soft Stone Tiles, score with a sharp Stanley knife and snap along the scored line. Flexible Brick Facings can be trimmed with a Stanley knife.

Align and trim

Use a level to keep rows straight and spacing consistent. Measure carefully and score, snap or trim pieces to fit edges, corners and irregular areas.

Clean and allow the adhesive to cure

Wipe away excess adhesive with a damp sponge as you work. Allow the adhesive to cure completely before exposing the installation to moisture or weather. This is often 24–48 hours, but the adhesive manufacturer's instructions take precedence.

Grout, if desired

Grouting is optional. For a more traditional stone or brick finish, apply suitable grout between pieces using a rubber float. Remove excess grout with a damp sponge and allow it to cure according to its instructions.

Final clean

Once the adhesive and any grout have fully cured, use a damp cloth to remove remaining residue and dust.

For best results: Work in small sections, check alignment regularly, remove adhesive as you go and allow the required curing time before exposing the area to outdoor conditions.

Product Care

Clean gently with a soft cloth or sponge and water. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive tools and pressure washing. For outdoor installations, inspect the surface and joins periodically and address any damage in accordance with your adhesive and grout manufacturers' instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Peel and Stick on Tiles?

Peel and stick on tiles are self adhesive tiles that are designed to be installed over existing tiles or other surfaces. They require no grout, are easy to clean, are inexpensive and can dramatically makeover your kitchen, bathroom or laundry with little effort.

What is the difference between Composite and Vinyl Tiles?

Our Composite and Vinyl Stick on Tiles offer a range of styles, colours and finishes to revamp your project space. The Composite Tiles are made from PVC materials with a laminate finish measuring 4mm in thickness. The Vinyl Tiles have a glossier finish and are 2.5mm in thickness. Both are incredibly realistic and easy to install, requiring a sharp stanely knife (and some silicone for a high quality finish) to complete your DIY project.

What surfaces can I use Stick on Tiles on?

Existing tiles, gyprock, glass, painted walls, acrylic, stainless steel, aluminium or plastic surfaces. Just make sure the surface is clean and dry before installation

What dimensions are the Stick on Tiles?

Each design does vary in size, be sure to read the product information for each tile to confirm its dimensions before ordering.

Can I use Stick on Tiles in wet areas such as showers?

Our Vinyl and Composite tile ranges are water-resistant, making them suitable for bathroom walls, splashbacks, splash zones, kitchens and laundry rooms. However, they are not designed for continuously wet areas or locations exposed to direct and ongoing water, including inside shower enclosures.

While some customers have successfully installed these products in wet areas, installation inside a shower enclosure is outside the intended application of the product and is not covered by our voluntary product warranty.

Can I use Stick on Tiles on floors?

We do not recommend you use our Vinyl or Composite Wall Tiles for flooring as we cannot guarantee the longevity of the products on these high traffic surface, however we do have a range of Vinyl Floor Tiles!

Can I remove the Stick on Tiles?

Yes the tiles can be removed in the future, however, may leave adhesive residue or lift some paint off in the removal process. We recommend you first heat up the adhesive glue using a hair dryer and then slowly peel them off.

Is it safe to use Stick on Tiles behind the stove / hot plates?

We recommend allowing at least 30 cm of space from the centre of the back stove top burner to the splashback area when installing Stick on Tiles. This is to ensure safe installation and to prevent any heat/flame-related damage.

How many sheets of tiles will I get?

We sell all our tiles by the sheet. The dimensions listed on each product are for a single sheet. The below graphic further explains this.
