How to Install Peel & Stick Wall Tiles
Our Vinyl and Composite Stick on Tiles are designed for easy DIY transformations — giving you the designer tile look without a tiler, grout, messy demolition or expensive cutting tools.
What You’ll Need
- Cutting surface
- Ruler
- Stanley knife or sharp scissors
- Pencil
- Sugar soap or dishwashing liquid
- Cleaning cloth
- Bucket of warm water
- Fine sandpaper for painted surfaces
Before You Start
For best results, install your tiles onto a clean, dry, smooth and flat surface. Existing tiles, glass, metal, gyprock and other suitable surfaces can work well when properly cleaned and prepared.
Painted surfaces may need a light sand first to help the adhesive bond properly.
Using Tiles in Bathrooms or Wet Areas
Our Vinyl and Composite tiles are water-resistant by design, making them suitable for splashbacks, kitchen walls, laundry zones and bathroom feature areas.
For direct water exposure, such as shower enclosures, extra waterproofing is essential. Some customers seal edges, corners, joins, bevels or grout lines with waterproof silicone or epoxy grout.
While shower installation is not part of our standard recommendation, many DIYers have achieved excellent results with additional sealing steps.
Heat Safety Note
For kitchen installations, we recommend leaving at least 30cm between the back stove burner and your splashback area to reduce the risk of heat-related damage.
We do not recommend installing tiles directly next to open flames or high heat. That said, over 10,000 customers have successfully used our peel and stick tiles in kitchen spaces.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Follow these simple steps for a clean, professional-looking finish.
Clean the Surface
Wipe the area clean with a gentle cleaning agent to remove dirt, dust, grease and debris. Allow the surface to become touch dry before applying your first tile sheet.
Measure Your Space
Measure your area to confirm how many sheets you need. This is also the perfect time to test placement, direction and pattern alignment before sticking anything down.
Cut Your First Tile Sheet
Measure twice and cut once. Start with a straight line closest to the corner of your wall, then work across to the opposite side for a clean and consistent finish.
Remove the Adhesive Film
Gently peel back the film and place the tile sheet onto the wall. Align the bottom and side edges carefully, then press firmly across the full sheet for strong adhesion.
Align the Next Tile Sheet
Continue applying each sheet, carefully matching the pattern and grout lines for a seamless look. Keep offcuts to fill smaller areas at the end of your project.
Finish the Wall
For a polished finish, apply all-purpose silicone around the edges in a colour that matches your grout lines. Then stand back, admire your work and share your before-and-after photos with #stickontiles.
